Luz is the Portuguese word for light.

Although the light in Luz is stunning and beautiful to view, in this case Luz comes from Nostra Senhora da Luz, our Lady of The Light, a very active church at the heart of the town.

This blog has little to do with religion, but a lot to do with active heartbeat. Life that is vibrant.

A locality that is child-safe and family welcoming.

A place where the focus in the sunlight hours is kids, youths, adults and oldies. Fun for all.

And in the evening into the night? You can choose to go to sleep if you want, but the World Cup is in town. An 11PM kick-off, with food on hand, is not a problem. And music and singing and dancing? But of course!

The light shines bright on Luz.

And welcome to Shining In Luz.

  1. Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m a filmmaker and I’d love to chat with you on the phone for my background research. Is there any way to give you my contact details that won’t be on a public forum?

    Best Wishes.
