Just to give you a little bit of an idea of things around the 8th anniversary, here is some background information on life in Luz.
At 4pm today, 1st May 2015, the temperature is 25C in the shade. There is a light breeze from west to east. That west to east is the most common direction for wind in Luz, and it may be pertinent to the case of Madeleine McCann. There is about 50% cloud cover.
As to how well this approximates to the weather around 3rd May 2007, I cannot be certain. All I can say at the moment is that it is shorts, t-shirt and sunglasses weather.
There was a lot of rain over the winter, and there has been a lot of sun since. That means plants are in full bloom. Here’s a photo of a garden taken today around 4pm, and this is typical of cultivated vegetation.
And here’s a photo, again at 4pm today, of what uncultivated land looks like, just to show that the weeds are equally in full bloom.
Assuming all goes to plan, tomorrow’s little venture should be around the area of the Smith sighting, in daylight, to see if I can get something a bit clearer than Google streetview.
