England V Uruguay

With the demise yesterday of Spain at the hands of Chile, Spain was knocked out of the competition, and an 8 year rule as top dogs came to an end.  And by coincidence, the rule of King Juan Carlo I of Spain ended today with his abdication while King Felipe VI came to power.  Felipe called for change and a ‘new Spain’, and in football terms it looks like change has already begun.

Tonight the heavyweight clash is England v Uruguay.  The pessimists are already in evidence, pointing out that, technically, England could lose this match and still qualify for the final. assuming … well, assuming a lot.  The reality is if Uruguay don’t get at least a point, they are out so I predict Luis Suarez will be playing, whether 100% fit or not.
